Executive Director
Positive Vibe Foundation

My son, Max, and I came up with the idea of The Positive Vibe Foundation in 2001. Max has muscular dystrophy and was struggling to find meaningful employment because of his disabilities, so we came up with a plan for improving not only Max’s life, but the lives of others who found prospective employers concentrating more on their wheelchairs than their resumes. We developed a training program to help people with disabilities find employment in the food service industry and recruited the expertise of people throughout the Richmond community to design and implement our processes. Finally, in January 2005, Max’s Positive Vibe Café opened its doors for customers and now provides a laboratory/training facility for the program, helps fund our classes, and offers employment opportunities for some of our graduates. Our goal is to show prospective employers that people with cognitive and/or physical disabilities are also skilled and anxious to work.
